Find an equation of the tangent line to the curve

y = \frac{x ^{2}}{x + 1}

First step: finding the derivative

y^{'} (x) = \frac{( 2 x \cdot ( x + 1 )) - ( x ^{2} \cdot 1 )}{( x + 1 ) ^{2}}

y^{'} (x) = \frac{x ^{2} + 2 x}{( x + 1 ) ^{2}}

y^{'} (x) = \frac{x ^{2} + 2 x}{x ^{2} + 2 x + 2}

Something is off with the way you expanded the square of the sum

(x + 1)^{2}

The correct expansion of

(a + b)^{2}

a^{2} + 2 ab + b^{2}
